Recall Up Date: 2010 Lexus HS 250 h & Toyota Prius

The Problem: Due to vibration, the brake pressure accumulator could develop a fatigue crack on an internal part. Toyota has yet to disclose what could happen if the accumulator cracks, but has stated that there have been no reported injuries or accidents related to the problem.

The Fix: Owners will be notified by mail to have their vehicles inspected. Dealers will inspect the brake booster pump assembly; certain pump assemblies may be equipped with an accumulator that has (or could) crack. If this is the case, the dealer will replace the pump assembly free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: A total of 242,000 vehicles worldwide – roughly 87,000 of which are U.S.-market 2010 Toyota Prius models produced between March and October 2009 and 2012 Lexus HS 250h hybrids produced between June and October 2009.
