Wranglers built with an automatic transmission may find their power steering return lines rubbing against a transmission oil cooler line. Over time, the oil cooler line could be breached, causing a loss of transmission fluid and an inoperable transmission.
The fix: Jeep dealers will replace the power
steering return tube assembly, and inspect the transmission oil cooler
lines. If the oil cooler lines are in good shape, a protective sleeve
will be added; if not, they’ll be replaced at no charge. Owners will be
notified in July, and can contact Chrysler for more information at
Number affected: This recall applies to roughly 181,000 SUVs in the U.S., along with 18,400 Wranglers in Canada.
