Recall Up Date: 2013 Ram 1500, 2500, & 3500

The problem: The warning light on Ram trucks that alerts drivers to the fact that a taillight is not working properly may not operate as intended. Chrysler says it has not heard about any accidents or injuries related to the recall, but a company representative notes in a release: “This proactive response reflects our ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction,” a quote most likely influenced by the company’s decision to refuse a voluntary recall on 2.7 million Jeeps.

The fix: Ram dealers will perform a software upgrade to make the taillight warning light function properly. Customers with questions may call 1-800-853-1403.

Number of vehicles affected: On 2013 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks, 17,400 trucks in the U.S., 11,500 trucks in Canada, 470 trucks in Mexico, and 775 trucks elsewhere.
