Spied: 2014 Nissan Qashqai

The next-generation Nissan Qashqai has been spotted by an eagle-eyed Auto Express reader, ahead of its launch next year.

Kirsten Stanley spotted the test mule being driven through the centre of Bedford – just over 14 miles from Nissan’s European Technical Centre in Cranfield.

The car’s been styled by Nissan Design Europe in Paddington, London, and these images show just how close our exclusive image (see gallery) is to the production car, including its bluff new nose, angular lights, oversized wheels and upswept C-pillar.

We expect the new car to be revealed at the end of the year, before going on sale early in 2014 with a range of new engines and technology.

Nissan product chief Andy Palmer has even confirmed that there’ll be a Nismo version of the Qashqai to join the Juke Nismo and 370Z Nismo. Palmer also said there’ll be no Qashqai+2, with the next X-Trail SUV taking over as the range’s seven-seater. For more details click here.
