Hot News: New Porsche 911 GT3 to Debut at Goodwood

Porsche will showcase seven generations of the 911 at Goodwood this weekend with the all-new 911 GT3 set to take centre stage. The Festival of Speed marks the GT3's UK debut, and the car will form part of a procession to celebrate 50 years of the Porsche 911.

Powered by a naturally aspirated flat-six engine, the GT3 develops 475bhp and delivers its power through the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK double-clutch transmission.

Porsche's latest 911 GT3 is its most technologically advanced yet. To the slight dismay of Porsche purists, the GT3 is the first that has not been made available with a manual transmission.

The GT3 also includes Porsche's rear-wheel steering system, which the firm claims enhances cornering agility and high-speed stability, and contributes to the GT3's sub-7min 30sec laptime of the infamous Nurburgring-Nordschleife circuit.

Other famous Porsche models will be showcased at Goodwood too. A 911 RSR 2.8, which won the Sebring 12 Hours in America in 1973 will be on show, along with a line-up of historic Le Mans veterans including the 911 GT1, driven by Allan McNicsh, that won in 1998.

Since the launch of the Porsche 911 in 1963, over 820,000 examples of the sportscar have been produced. For more details click here.
