This is the Caterham R620, which has been revealed ahead of its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week.
Powered by a 310bhp reengineered 2.0-litre supercharged engine, the
620R weighs just over 500kg and is Caterham's most powerful production
car ever. As a result it completes the 0- 62mph sprint in under 2.8sec
and can hit 155mph flat out.
Replacing the already extreme 263bhp Caterham 7
R500 in the line-up, the new 620R sets a new benchmark for outrageous
performance with a price to match - the Seven 620R will cost £49,995.
The 620R also features a new gunmetal chassis, an air-flow optimised
nose cone and a race-developed cooling package. There’s also
high-performance dampers and 13-inch lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in
track-ready Avon ZZR tyres.
In the cockpit, there are ergonomic improvements and a
performance-focused theme is noticeable throughout, with lashings of
carbon fibre to reduce weight further.
The unveiling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed will be to introduce
the range-topping 620R although a just-as-powerful, but slight softer
620S will be launched later in the year.
Order books for the Caterham Seven 620R are now open, with deliveries expected later in the year. For more details click here.
