Recall Up Date: 2011-2012 Dodge Nitro, 2011-2013 Chrysler Sebring/200, Dodge Avenger, & Jeep Liberty
The Problem: A potentially faulty microcontroller
might prevent the active head restraints in certain vehicles from
working properly. Chrysler says the components in question were added
after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan interrupted supply chains
and caused a microcontroller shortage. Chrysler says it is unaware of
any injuries or accidents related to the issue.
The Fix: Chrysler will replace the part or upgrade
system software as needed. Chrysler will communicate with affected
customers. Concerned owners can reach Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 442,000 vehicles in the U.S., 25,000 in Canada, 10,000 in Mexico, and 12,000 elsewhere.
