The first picture of the new BMW M4 has been leaked online.

According to internet rumours, BMW had planned to show the car for the first time at the Frankfurt motor show next month. Posted on an internet forum, this leaked picture shows the M4 will have a more aggressively-styled front bumper than previously seen as well as a new front lip spoiler made from carbon fibre. The larger front grille is believed to have been inspired by the current M6.

The car takes several design cues from the 4-series M-performance packaged released by BMW last month, including more prominent LED headlights. It remains unknown whether the M4 will take on-board other features of the package, including the 20-inch wheel designs and a more aggressive rear bumper.

BMW has yet to confirm what engine will power the M4, though it is expected that the coupe, along with the carbiolet and Gran Coupe models will all receive a new 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine, rather than the V8 used in the current M3 saloon. The car has previously been spotted testing.
The car will also be shown at Pebble Beach this weekend.
