New Car: 2013 Jeep Wrangler Polar

Jeep has announced a limited edition of the rugged 4x4 Wrangler called the Polar, which will make its public debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Wrangler Polar features exclusive design touches such as the Hydro Blue paint job, 18-inch black gloss alloy wheels and body-coloured hardtop. The name Polar comes from the harsh, snowy conditions in the polar regions and Jeep has even fitted 78° S and 106° E coordinates as a badge. This corresponds to the location of Vostok in Antarctica – the exact point where the lowest temperature in the world was recorded, at -89.2° C.

Inside, standard kit includes heated front seats, a leather steering wheel, cruise control, climate control, a 6.5-inch infotainment system with sat nav and white detail stitching on the seats and steering wheel.

Power comes from a 200bhp 2.8-litre CRD engine, delivering 460Nm of torque, which is paired with a five-speed automatic gearbox. The Polar is also fitted with a Track-Lok limited-slip rear differential, which replaces the manual rear-axle locker for maximum traction and stability on tougher terrain.

Available as either a two-door or a four-door, the Jeep Wrangler Polar will be available in the first quarter of 2014 priced similarly to other special editions of the Wrangler, at around £28,000. For more details click here.
