The Renault Megane
has a new face. The facelifted third-generation model has taken on the
French manufacturer's new ‘brand identity’ and it'll be publicly
unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show before going on sale in Europe in
the first quarter of 2014.
The Megane Hatchback, Coupe and Sports Tourer all feature a new front
bumper with F1-style extended air vent grille. There’s also a new
bonnet bearing an enlarged Renault badge, now set against a gloss black
background and new elliptical headlights. New daytime running lights
also stretch along the outer sides of the front bumper.
Although each of the three Megane variants now feature the same front
end, Renault claims, “Each model retains its own distinctive
Sportier GT and R.S. models have also received cosmetic revisions.
The restyled headlights are framed with LEDs and either a small GT or
R.S. badge is fitted below the enlarged Renault logo on the bonnet
depending on the model. The GT variant receives a slightly tweaked
version of the new front bumper, with the R.S. model being marked out
with its more aggressive styling and red detailing.
Inside, changes are minimal but the Megane range features a new
multi-directional joystick on the centre console for browsing the
Renault R-Link multimedia system.
On Megane Bose models an exclusive gloss black bumper surround, along
with new upholstery and new 17-inch Akhiro alloy wheels will be fitted.
If you choose the Bose trim on Hatchback models protective black and
chrome side mouldings are fitted as standard and on Sports Tourer
models, Renault will fit chrome roof bars and side window surrounds.
The Megane range is also now available with EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission with the 130bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine.
Prices are yet to be announced but don’t expect them to vary too much from the £16,745 starting price of the current model. For more details click here.
