Following a teaser image last week, the first official picture of the
Jaguar 4x4 concept due to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show has
leaked. This front-end shot reveals an XJ-inspired look for the newcomer, called C-X17.
When the SUV makes production we’re expecting it to wear the XQ
badge, and teaser shots released earlier suggest that the rear will get
narrow lights like those on the F-Type.
The production car will based a new modular aluminium platform that’s
also set to underpin a new 3 Series-rivalling model from Jaguar that
will sit below the XF.
A Jaguar statement said: “The concept illustrates the diversity of
vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins
the innovative future of the Jaguar brand.”
Jaguar hasn’t released any details on what will power the C-X17 but
the production car is likely to use the current line-up of V6 petrol and
diesel units, plus a pair of new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and
diesel four-cylinders currently under development.
We expect to see the C-X17 on the roads by 2016, carrying a price-tag
of just over £30,000 to match rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. For more details click here.
