The Problem: Electric malfunctions could occur in the gearbox power supply of the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid sedan’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission if synthetic oil is used. The issue is more prevalent in hot and humid climates with lots of stop-and-go driving.
The Fix: Starting in December,
Volkswagen will notify owners to bring their affected vehicles to a
dealer where the existing synthetic gearbox oil will be replaced with a
new mineral-based oil with non-corrosive additives.
Number of Potentially Affected Vehicles: 3836 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid sedans from the 2013-2014 model years are affected.
