Tokyo Show 2013 Highlights: Toyota JPN Taxi Concept

Toyota has unveiled its JPN Taxi concept for the first time at the Tokyo motor show.

Intended to show the company's vision for the next generation of Japanese Taxis, the concept is designed for five-passengers. Power in the JPN Taxi comes from a hybrid LPG powertrain. The firm says it has incorporated design elements from the London Taxi into its styling.

Toyota also says the JPN-Taxi conforms fully to the Japanese regulations for user-friendly public service vehicles.

The company will also show two new seven-seat MPV concepts, dubbed Voxy and Noah. Toyota has yet to reveal specific details about the models, including powertrain and pricing, but both cars are due to launch in early 2014.

The firm will also show its FT86 concept, based on the GT86 sports car. Toyota says the concept has been "created to explore future sports car variations".

Toyota's previously seen i-Road personal mobility vehicle was also unveiled shown, as well as other concepts including the hydrogen-powered FCV and the FV2.
