While the new 2015 Porsche Macan may be getting all the buzz, the 2014 Cayenne Platinum Edition reminds us about the automaker's best-seller and our 2011 SUV of the Year. On sale in January, the 2014 Cayenne Platinum Edition may help the successful Porsche model get some attention in its fourth model year. The 2014 Cayenne Platinum Edition V-6 will start at $64,295 while the diesel V-6 variant will cost $67,895, including destination.
For those prices, you get a subtle
special-edition model that bundles lots of popular equipment in one
package. Standard equipment on both Cayenne Platinum Editions includes
HID headlights that turn around corners, a navigation system with a
seven-inch touch screen, memory seats, a moonroof, auto-dimming mirrors,
heated front seats, 19-inch wheels, a 14-speaker Bose sound system,
front and rear parking sensors, as well as the eight-speed automatic
(with engine stop-start and paddle shifters) that costs $3000 on normal
Cayenne V-6s. Inside, the black and tan interior gets embossed headrests
and floor mats and Platinum Edition door sill trim pieces.
Of course, on a
Cayenne Platinum Edition, Porsche adds a number of exterior trim pieces
finished in Platinum Silver Metallic. Monotone black and white colors
are standard, while for $790, Meteor Grey Metallic, Black Metallic, and
Mahogany Metallic are available. We might go with the Carrara White
Metallic, which is only offered on this special-edition model.
