It appears Infiniti wants to add a little bit of spice to the Q50 sports sedan since the Japanese luxury automaker has announced it'll be unveiling a Formula 1-inspired Q50 concept at the Detroit auto show next month.
Dubbed the "Q50 Eau Rouge," the concept will
demonstrate Infiniti's vision of what a high-performance Q50 should be.
Modeled after Formula 1 cars, the concept will feature similar
aerodynamic and design elements seen on the open-wheel racers. The regular Q50 was already made more aerodynamic than its predecessor, producing a low 0.26 coefficient of drag.
To further demonstrate the concept's motorsport
DNA, Infiniti named it after the world-famous corner at the track in
Spa-Francorchamps. We'll have to wait until the 2014 Detroit auto show
to find out more about the Q50 Eau Rouge, but Infiniti says the Q50 was
the perfect foundation for "an extreme performance version." The Q50 is powered by a
3.7-liter V-6 that puts out 328 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, and already
has a little bit of Formula 1 blood in it since it was fine-tuned with
the help of three-time Formula 1 World Driver's champion Sebastian
Expect more details to be revealed closer to the
car's unveiling, but until then, we'll have to hope that Infiniti gives
its spiced-up Q50 an extra kick.
