NAIAS 2014 Highlights: 2014 Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition

Sage philosopher and cherished camo-clad reality TV star Si Roberston once said, “Give me about 15 more minutes, I’m dreaming about beavers.” While we’re not really sure of the intended context of Si’s musings, his words likely won’t be lost on those awaiting the return of the Ram 1500 Mossy Oak edition for the 2014 model year.

Camouflage-maker Mossy Oak and Ram have again collaborated on a special-edition pickup after a one-year absence, this time making the Mossy Oak edition available on 1500s equipped with Rambox bedside lockable bins, in both 5.7- and 6.4-foot bed lengths. Exterior color choices include Black, Black Gold Pearl, and Prairie Pearl, teamed with either a Canyon Brown or Frost Beige interior. Mossy Oak, the self-proclaimed world leader in camouflage, provides a camo pattern for the bedcaps and tailgate, and a Mossy Oak logo on the rear quarter panels. (Camouflage cladding, seen in the photo above, is optional.) The interior gets the same camo applied to the center stack and door panels, and the Mossy Oak logo reappears on the headrests—which rest on optional Espresso Tuscany leather.

Lest you think all this camo trim is just an earth-toned gimmick, Ram has the statistics to prove that Ram 1500 owners are truly an outdoorsy bunch: 30 percent hunt, 44 percent fish, 27 percent are boaters, and 42 percent are campers. We’ve certainly seen automakers cater to lighter demographics.
