New Car: 2014 Bentley Flying Spur V8

Bentley won't sit quietly at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, as it has announced big changes are in store. Taking center stage on the automaker's stand will be a more efficient Flying Spur, and an updated Continental GT Speed.

Following in the footsteps of the Continental GT, the Flying Spur will now be available with a V-8 for those who don't want to go big with the W-12. Powered by the automaker’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that makes 500 hp and 488 lb-ft of torque, the 2015 Bentley Flying Spur V-8 can rocket from 0-60 mph in an estimated 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 183 mph. Like its more powerful sibling, the V-8-powered Flying Spur also gets an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The Flying Spur V-8, however, goes farther on one tank of gas with a claimed 520-mile range thanks to the "highly efficient" engine that utilizes cylinder deactivation, among other fuel-saving tech. As a result, it's estimated to achieve an EPA-rated 14/24 mpg city/highway, up from the W-12's 12/20 mpg.

The differences don't end there. The V-8 Flying Spur will look a bit different thanks to chrome exhaust pipes, a red center on the Bentley-wing badge, and black front grille. Inside, eucalyptus wood veneers offset the leather upholstery, and a single-piece rear seat accommodates three passengers. Thanks to the Mulliner Driving Specification option, the Flying Spur gets even fancier with diamond quilting, leather headliner, alloy pedals, embroidered Bentley wings on the headrests, 20-inch wheels, and fully adjustable rear seats with lumbar support and heating.
