Recall Up Date: 2007-2013 & 2012-2013 Aston Martins

Aston Martin has issued a recall that applies to 17,590 cars built since 2008 - around three-quarters of its total output in that period. The problem relates to a plastic moulding in the accelerator pedal that's considered to be unsafe, although no accidents have been recorded.

The offending supplier is Shenzhen Kexiang Mould Tool Co Ltd, a Chinese company that's said to have used counterfeit DuPont plastic in the pedal arm - increasing the risk that it could break.

The problem is thought to affect all models except for the Vanquish, Vanquish Volante and Cygnetand refers to left-hand drive cars built between 11 November 2007 and 31 December 2013 and right-hand drive cars built between May 2012 and 31 December 2013.

Any owners who think they might be affected should contact their local dealer to have the problem rectified, which takes less than hour. There is already a plan in place to move production of the throttle pedal moulding from China to the UK with immediate effect. For more details click here.
