The Subaru Viziv is headed back to the Geneva Motor Show. After the crossover debuted at last year's show with supercar doors and a diesel-hybrid powertrain, Subaru is bringing an updated version, dubbed the Subaru Viziv 2, to Geneva with new styling.
Unlike the original Viziv concept, the Subaru Viziv 2
concept actually looks like existing Subarus. The Viziv 2 crossover
sports the now signature Subaru headlights first seen on the 2015 WRX,
as well as the shield-shaped grille that’s been proliferating across
the Subaru lineup as of late. The Viziv 2 also gets some interesting
circular LEDs in the lower front fascia, which looks to house foglights
inside of them.
The original Viziv concept was powered by a
2.0-liter turbodiesel F-4 along with three electric motors. The
turbodiesel and an electric motor powered the front wheels via a CVT,
while two electric motors drove the rear wheels, giving the Viziv
all-wheel drive. Considering Subaru just launched its first hybrid, the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, it wouldn't be surprising to see another hybrid powertrain in the Viziv 2.
Not much else is known about the Viziv 2
concept, but its return to the Geneva Motor Show, is probably a safe bet
that Subaru is at the very least considering putting the crossover into
production. If the Viziv 2 does make it into production, it very well
could replace the three-row Tribeca in the lineup.
