Spied: 2015 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

We’ve seen various spy shots of Porsche’s upcoming facelifted Cayenne, but this is the first time our spies have spotted the plug-in S E-Hybrid variant. It’s likely to use the same technology as the Panamera S E-Hybrid, with only very minor styling features marking it out from the rest of the Cayenne range.

Wearing almost no disguise, the addition of an extra fuel filler cap on the rear quarter denotes this prototype as the Cayenne S E-Hybrid model. Other changes for the facelifted SUV extend to more stylish LED headlights and reshaped bumpers.

Although the spy shots don’t show it, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is likely to be fitted with neon green and silver badges as well as green brake calipers to help distinguish from the rest of the range – like the Panamera.

Mechanically, the powertrain from the Panamera S E-hybrid is also likely to be adopted. A 316bhp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 combined with a 94bhp electric motor provides the power, with Porsche claiming the system can return over 91mpg and emit just 71g/km of CO2. With the powertrain fitted to the Cayenne, those figures will suffer slightly due to the increased weight of the SUV but the S E-Hybrid is set to become the most frugal Cayenne in the range.

With the model in the latter stages of development we could see it publically unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September. For more details click here.
