The Problem: Third-row window switches in certain 2010-2014 Chrysler minivans can overheat from short-circuits caused by beverage spills or other exposure to moisture.
The Fix: Chrysler will contact
owners and schedule a service appointment, where the switch can be
inspected and replaced free of charge. In the meantime, owners can visit
dealers after May 14 to have their window switches disconnected, which
will eliminate the overheating risk. Owners can call Chrysler at
1-800-853-1403 for more info.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected:
The recall covers around 780,000 model-year 2010-2014 Chrysler Town
& Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans built between August 25,
2010 and October 31, 2013, and equipped with third-row power windows. Of
those vehicles, 644,850 are in the U.S. Based on warranty data,
Chrysler has determined that only 36 vehicles -- or less than 0.0005
percent of affected models -- have experienced the issue.
